Time for another Santa Fe Tea Party

(Picture from Santa Fe Tea Party 2009)

As we all know, tomorrow is Tax Day in America.

It’s also Tea Party day for many thousands of Americans who are concerned about the direction our country is headed, and believing in strength in numbers, many of us are going to petition our government for redress of grievances … we’ll be meeting all across the country tomorrow.

The national tea party movement is a grassroots effort by individual groups in many communities. Here in New Mexico, at last count, we will have tea parties in at least ten towns and cities across the state: Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Los Lunas, Clovis, Roswell, Silver City, Ruidoso, and Moriarty, as well as Farmington, which will hold its tea party on Saturday.

Our Santa Fe Tea Party is an enthusiastic, cohesive and energetic group of Republicans, Democrats, libertarians and independents - all of whom believe in smaller government, lower taxes, personal reasonability, a free market system, a strong military, private health care, and MOST OF ALL -- LESS government involvement in our lives.

Despite what you have heard … we are not racists, we are not hateful, we are not out to cause trouble, we are not angry or fearful. We ARE focused on returning traditional political values to our country, and in electing candidates in November who will return our country to the nation we love and treasure. Many of us have never been involved in political protests of any kind until the past year, when our concerns could no longer allow us to sit at home without speaking up.

We are not out-of-control nutcases. We are your neighbors, family members, friends, coworkers, etc. We go to your churches and we work in businesses that you frequent. We are firemen, policemen, doctors and nurses who are committed to protecting your lives.

Come to the Tea Party tomorrow at the Santa Fe Plaza from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and meet us. If you see anyone there who is disrupting things, then he/she is likely just that -- a disruptor and infiltrator. We have heard the anti-tea party people may show up, and we will welcome their presence, but not allow them to ruin an event which we have planned as a peaceful protest…and for which we have paid money to hold on the Plaza.

If you come to our tea party, we encourage you to bring a couple of cans of food -- we are collecting donations of nonperishable food to donate to the Food Depot of Santa Fe.

May God Bless our country.

A tea party in Santa Fe - amazing! It was good to be in NM the other day, but it was a whirlwind trip.
