A trip to Abiquiu Dam

We love to go up to Abiquiu Dam. The scenery there is so magnificent, we wanted to show it to our friend Susie. It was a lovely day when we went there, and here are some pictures we got:

From Abiquiu to Cuba New Mexico

We took a trip last week up to the northwestern part of the state. It was a magnificent journey through some spectacular places and a chance to learn so much more about the history of this state. John got some gorgeous pictures all along the way.

It will take me many posts to include all the pictures, so I will do it in sections. The first leg of the trip was from Abiquiu NM, across the Jemez Mountains, and into Cuba, NM:

Abiquiu Lake/Abiquiu Dam, New Mexico

Abiquiu Reservoir / Dam was constructed in 1963 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Rio Chama watershed. Abiquiu Lake now covers about 2,000 acres of land north of Abiquiu, on land that was formerly a part of Ghost Ranch. It's quite a sight!
