We went for a walk in the Eldorado Community Preserve this afternoon. It was a beautiful day!

Some scenes at Cañoncito, New Mexico

The community of Cañoncito is southeast of Eldorado along I-25 and adjacent to the Eldorado Community Preserve. We were out there on Sunday and got some nice pictures of the area:

Trailhead #4, Eldorado Wilderness

Yesterday was our first hike on Traihead #4 in the Eldorado Wilderness and it was my favorite so far. The scenery was not as spectacular as the views from the other trailheads, but the trail was wider and more easily accessible and opens into a nice semi-meadow. Lots of really nice piñon pines. It was just a gorgeous day - blue sky and temperature in the upper 50s.

Out in the Eldorado Wilderness

It was a gorgeous New Mexico day today: 50º, brilliant blue sky, abundant sunshine.

We took advantage of this beautiful Sunday to go out walking in the Eldorado Wilderness Area.

Encountered some areas of melting slick snow and lots of mud, but for the most part, it was just nice to be outdoors enjoying the nice weather and great scenery.

The Eldorado Wilderness

Yesterday John, the dogs and I located all four trailheads of the Eldorado Community Preserve. What a great place!



The Eldorado Community Preserve consists of 4,094 acres of wilderness land adjacent to the subdivision of Eldorado at Santa Fe, and stretching all the way down to Lamy, NM. The land was deeded in perpetuity to the Eldorado Community Improvement Association (ECIA) as long as it is used only as a nature preserve.

One of the best amenities in Eldorado is this wilderness area, which is only for the use of Eldorado residents and our guests. It is a place of natural vegetation and wildlife. There are hiking trails and horse paths. We will be going there often!
