Santa Maria de La Paz Church

This is our local parish church. Today was the first time we have attended Mass there.

What a beautiful church - inside and out. The style is Santa Fe Pueblo, and has every single appropriate touch. My favorite part were the statues and other artwork, all done by local sculptors, wood carvers and other artists. The church is exactly 20 years old this year.

The Church at Galisteo, New Mexico

This church, Iglesia Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, is located in the center of Galisteo, NM about 10 miles south of our house in Eldorado.

The church has a long and rich history; it sits on the site of an ancient Tano Indian village, the Galisteo Pueblo. Formerly called Santa Cruz de Galisteo, the pueblo dates back into at least the 1500s.

The town of Galisteo itself was part of a Spanish Land Grant in the 1600s. There are nine pueblo ruins in the Galisteo basin.

The church at Tecolote, NM

This is one of my favorite little country churches that we have run across so far.

Tecolote is one of the tiny towns between Las Vegas, NM and Pecos.

Tecolote in Spanish means "owl."

I am not sure what town this little church is in.

It's just off the county road between Las Vegas, New Mexico and Pecos.

The church at Macho Valley, New Mexico

Macho Valley, NM is on the road between Pecos and Cowles, NM. There is not much there, but there is a COOL little church right at the roadside.
