Visiting Taos

Jake, Debbie and I spend an afternoon and an overnight in Taos two weeks ago.

We did shopping on the plaza, drove out to the Rio Grande Bridge, drove up to Taos Pueblo (which was closed to visitors when we were there) and stopped at Taos Mountain Casino for a little gambling and dinner. There was some heavy rain during the afternoon.

I guess we were having a great time, because I forgot to take many pictures.

Last weekend when we were in Taos for the Susana Martinez rally, the Sagebrush Inn was hosting a vintage car show.

There were some beauties there:

Seeing Susana in Taos

Last Sunday we went up to Taos, where the Taos GOP and the "Democrats for Martinez" were holding a rally for Susana Martinez, our Republican candidate for governor.

It was just a gorgeous August day, the setting was beautiful, the crowd was large and enthusiastic, so it made for a perfect political rally.

The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge

At 650 feet above the Rio Grande,the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, 10 miles west of Taos, NM, is the fifth highest bridge in the United States.

The bridge, on U.S. Route 64, was dedicated on September 10, 1965.

Taos, New Mexico

Taos is a wonderful town - spectacular mountain setting, adobe architecture, lots of shops and restaurants, a great little plaza, good shopping, etc. We don't get up there as often as I would like.
