"I think that New Mexico was the greatest experience from the outside world that I ever had. It certainly changed me forever ... The moment I saw the brilliant proud morning (sun) shine high up over the deserts of Santa Fe, something stood still in my soul." ~D.H. Lawrence

Aftermath - Tea Party Rally in Santa Fe
After the tea party ended, many many of our local volunteers pitched in to tear down the site, pack things up and clean up. With so many people working to get it done, it went fast, and the last three pictures will show you how conservatives leave an area after their rally is over.

The 9/12 Tea Party Rally in Santa Fe
These pictures were all taken during the rally itself -- there was great recorded patriotic music, some amazing rallying speakers, a salute to active duty military and veterans -- and as you can see from the following pictures - signs, flags, and lots of people! (The only thing that is impossible to post is the excitement and enthusiasm that was in the air ... I hope some of that is evident in the pictures.)

"Enough is Enough" Santa Fe 9/12 Tea Party
WHAT A DAY!!! After weeks of planning and a lot of hard work, yesterday we held the 9/12 tea party in Santa Fe. Our theme was "Enough is Enough" and the rally was held on the east side of the New Mexico state capitol building.
The best part (to me) was that this was a state-wide rally. People came from all over the Land of Enchantment -- I met people from Los Alamos, Española, Villanueva, Hobbs, Eunice, Silver City, Deming, Las Cruces, Roswell, Clayton, Albuquerque and Corrales. I heard we had people there from Farmington and Clovis, but I didn't meet them. I would say we had somewhere around 1,000 people attending. WAY TO GO, NEW MEXICO!
These pictures were taken during the set up and as early arrivals started to gather.

Sad looking little hydrangea.
My daughter and son in law gave me a hydrangea plant for Mother's Day. They ordered it from a florist in Santa Fe and asked for a plant that grows well in our high desert / low humidity area.
So..the florist sent a hydrangea - which I found out later does NOT like sunshine and loves a lot of water. Perfect for Santa Fe, right? *rolling eyes*
So it became my challenge. I put it in a shady place and watered it every day. The thing looked good all summer. I noticed a week ago that it was putting out dozens of tiny new leaves, so I got quite drastic and chopped off every single one of the old leaves to give the new ones a chance to get all the water and nutrients.
Looks pretty sad right now, huh? But I think the outcome might be a good one. I'm watching you, little plant. I think you're going to flourish.

Rabbitbrush
We have a wild shrub that is currently blooming all over our property. It's covered with yellow flowers. The best I can find out is that this is a plant called rabbitbrush.
It's not chamisa - chamisa is a much larger but similar looking plant that is just about to bloom everywhere around Santa Fe. I would guess they are in the same family.
Anyway it is pretty and is currently adding a nice splash of color to our high desert terrain.
