Sundae Sunday 2010

One of the best days of the year in Eldorado...

...the Annual ice cream social...

...held the last Sunday of August...

...to benefit the Vista Granda Public Library...

...all the ice cream you can eat ...

...and a silent auction of neat stuff...

...games for the kids...

...on an absolutely gorgeous late summer day...

...what could be better than that?

I love this view.

Out in the political campaign world

Busy busy busy!

John and I are very involved right now with both the Republican Party of Santa Fe County as well as the Santa Fe NM Tea Party. We have elections coming up on Nov. 2 which we feel might be one of the most important elections of our lifetime. We just can't sit back on the sidelines and watch the action...we feel we must jump in and become part of the action.

We are supporting Susana Martinez for Governor, John Sanchez for Lt. Governor, Dianna Duran for Secretary of State, Matt Chandler for Attorney General, Matt Rush for Land Commissioner, Errol Chavez for State Auditor, Tom Mullins for 3rd Congressional District congressman, and Brigette Russell for the 47th District State legislature seat. We are excited about the candidates we are supporting and hope to see some dramatic changes in New Mexico on Nov. 2.

I am telling you all of this to tell you I probably will not be able to do many blog posts in the next 70 days as these priorities are so important to us. We are looking forward to taking a nice rest on Nov. 3!

Santa Maria de La Paz Church

This is our local parish church. Today was the first time we have attended Mass there.

What a beautiful church - inside and out. The style is Santa Fe Pueblo, and has every single appropriate touch. My favorite part were the statues and other artwork, all done by local sculptors, wood carvers and other artists. The church is exactly 20 years old this year.

Maybe I can get some inside pictures next time. Here is the exterior:

Vintage cars in Taos

Last weekend when we were in Taos for the Susana Martinez rally, the Sagebrush Inn was hosting a vintage car show.

There were some beauties there:

John got a few nice pictures of the Sagebrush Inn on Sunday when we were there for the Susana Martinez rally.

Neat place!

Seeing Susana in Taos

Last Sunday we went up to Taos, where the Taos GOP and the "Democrats for Martinez" were holding a rally for Susana Martinez, our Republican candidate for governor.

It was just a gorgeous August day, the setting was beautiful, the crowd was large and enthusiastic, so it made for a perfect political rally.

Here are some of the pictures John took:
