Up on Santa Fe National Forest Road 79

Yesterday was my birthday, so we took a little drive up into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We headed to the little mountain town of Cañada de los Alamos, which is not far from our home in Eldorado.

From Cañada de los Alamos, we took US Forest Service Rd. 79, which winds up into the Santa Fe National Forest. The dirt road was mostly good, just deeply rutted in a few places, and when you get to the highest elevations along the road, the views in all directions are magnificent and you feel like you are on the top of the world.
