Rally for Susana

We went to the rally for Susana Martinez today at the New Mexico State Capitol Building. It was a gorgeous late May day in Santa Fe.

Susana is in her last minute spin around the state meeting voters before the primary on June 1.

It looks like the primary victory is within reach - she has a 10 point lead over her closest opponent in the latest polling.

Cloud

One of the best things about living in New Mexico is THE SKY.

It is a presence always. We watch it every day. We never know what magic it is going to display.

Sarah and Susana

On Sunday, May 16, we went to Albuquerque early in the morning to attend a rally in which Sarah and Todd Palin appeard with Susana Martinez, Republican candidate for governor of New Mexico, where Sarah endorsed Susana's candidacy.

Sarah's speech was vintage Palin, with the usual conservative message full of optimism and enthusiasm and toughness and excitement for the future.

It was a big media event, with over 1,000 enthusiastic Martinez supporters in attendance, and we were far enough back in the crowd that we didn't get a great view OR a chance to meet Sarah Palin personally, but John was able to get some good pictures.

It was fun - the perfect Sunday morning for political junkies!

Delivering a message to the Attorney General

On Weds. May 12, about 100 New Mexico tea party activists gathered at the New Mexico state capitol building. A committee of five people delivered a stack of nearly 4,000 petition signatures from all over the state to Gray King, the New Mexico attorney general, to ask him to get New Mexico into the lawsuit asking the courts to overturn the Obama health care bill as unconstitutional. (There are alreaady 21 states participating in the lawsuit.) The attorney general's response was that he is "still looking at it."

After their meeting with the AG, the committee returned to the west front of the Roundhouse where a press conference and rally was held.

It was a brilliantly sunny New Mexico day, but the wind was brisk and chilly. Spirits, however, were high. I met tea party people from all over the state: Albuquerque, the East Mountains, Clovis, Los Lunas, Farmington, and of course Santa Fe.

Now we await some decision from the Attorney General. As one of the committee members, attorney Randy Bevis told the crowd, "WE have a deadline ~~ November 2."
