The New Mexico State Fairgrounds, Albuquerque

I love the New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Albuquerque.

We were down there today, and got some good pictures of the neat pueblo style architecture and the tall trees.

The last time we were here was in 1970 at the State Fair. It was just a few blocks from our house on Chama Street, and I walked over there with my friend Maxine, and our kids. Brian was a baby in his stroller at the time.

The fairgrounds were full of booths and tents, food and exhibits. I had my very first taco here!

Some of our favorite memories are of the fair grounds in Alb. The kids and I used to spend a week in June at 4H horse camp. The 4H have a facility with dorm rooms right on the fair grounds. Then of course there was the State Fair in Sept. - great fun!

That's a NICE looking old Chevy pick-up... and it looks to be a daily-driver, too, which is the finest kind.

I like the architecture, as well... but I'm a gear-head, first and foremost. ;-)

Beautiful day you had, too. I was expecting to see some people there!
That must have been the end of it the first time you had Mex food. :) You knew you could never return to a place you called home your whole life that DIDN'T have tacos!!

That's right, K. Having that first taco opened up a whole new world to me!!!

The Fair grounds certainly look empty and strangely clean. OTOH, the gamblers don't go into this part. I'm trying to remember when I last it so neat and trim.
It's really rather pretty like this.

It was very pretty there, cat. And very clean. It was such a lovely warm spring day and fun to just walk around the grounds. And I wasn't prepared for the memories of 40 years ago that it would bring back.
