Out in the Eldorado Wilderness

It was a gorgeous New Mexico day today: 50º, brilliant blue sky, abundant sunshine.

We took advantage of this beautiful Sunday to go out walking in the Eldorado Wilderness Area.

Encountered some areas of melting slick snow and lots of mud, but for the most part, it was just nice to be outdoors enjoying the nice weather and great scenery.

Yesterday was a beauty down this way, too. We almost hit 70 degrees, and 68 is close enough for gub'mint work.

Today? Not so much. 24 degrees as I type, with fog! We're supposed to get to 47, but I have my doubts. At least there's no freezing rain, yadda, yadda, in the forecast...

So far I'm lovin' this NM winter. Beats the heck out of 30-40's and cloudy with 100% chance of rain!!! My PNWer friends are so jealous! HA

We'll have to check out your community preserve, Sharon. There are several trails in Placitas that we are working on. We too, hit some minor snow and lots of mud. But who cares - it was sunny!!!

I actually prefer winter weather in the 20-30º with lots of snow, but alas! not too many people agree with me.

The Eldorado Wilderness Preserve can only be used by residents of Eldorado or their guests. We did see a lot of cars in the parking areas yesterday, but not too many hikers.

Oh... well... then I'll just enjoy your photos of the area then.

Raymona, if I was a decent hiker, we could have you come as our guests, but you would get bored pretty quickly trudging along the trail with me. LOL
