"I think that New Mexico was the greatest experience from the outside world that I ever had.
It certainly changed me forever ... The moment I saw the brilliant proud morning (sun) shine high up over the deserts of Santa Fe,
something stood still in my soul."

Abiquiu Lake/Abiquiu Dam, New Mexico
Abiquiu Reservoir / Dam was constructed in 1963 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Rio Chama watershed. Abiquiu Lake now covers about 2,000 acres of land north of Abiquiu, on land that was formerly a part of Ghost Ranch. It's quite a sight!
I love this area of NM. After living and traveling in South America, I can say that the scenery is very similar to Neuquen, Argentina. Maybe I can dig up some photos--or better yet, let's take a trip to Neuquen so I can show you! :) I love Abiquiu.

K - I remember the first time we went up to Abiquiu - we were stunned at the beauty. And I still feel that every single time we go up there.
