Echo Amphitheater

Echo Amphitheater is a natural rock formation located 17 miles northwest of Abiquiu, New Mexico; it is located on Carson National Forest land.

Hiking up to the amphitheater from the parking lot is worth the ten minute walk because near the amphitheater there is an echo phenomena that is really fun.

Towanda!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember (just barely) visiting here as a kid and while in Chaco I was trying to remember where it was... THANK YOU for sharing and bringing back more wonderful memories of times I spent with my parents. I feel so lucky & blessed to have had parents that 'dragged' me everywhere with them - what a wonderful, exciting childhood I had.
Another place to add to my ever-growing list!!!!

It's easy to find. Just go up through Abiquiu and head up past Ghost Ranch and keep going for a few miles.

John and I "discovered" this place some years back - but I don't think it is one of the more well known places in New Mexico. But it should be -- it's awesome!

Your Abiquiu photos are great - like the real west.

Yet even more pics we have in common! Echo Amphitheater is indeed a very cool place! I've often wondered about the dark streaks at the top, though... and can't seem to find a suitable explanation anywhere...
