Raton Pass and home

We have been traveling for ten days, to visit our kids in Texas and Missouri. It was a wonderful time. Today we returned home. After a trip across Kansas and down the eastern side of Colorado, we crossed into New Mexico.

Raton Pass is my favorite place to enter New Mexico because the pass is so scenic and majestic. Lying between Trinidad, Colorado and Raton New Mexico, the pass across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is at an elevation of 7834 feet. The pass was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960.

Crossing Raton Pass in the spring, summer and fall is magnificent, but I would not want to be up there in a winter storm.

It looks like you had gorgeous weather for driving! I am sure you are happy to finally be home, though. Next time fly, will you? :)

But you can't see stuff like this from a plane. :)

Welcome home, Sharon!

I'm in general agreement with you on Raton Pass... but the last time I crossed it was in mid-May on the mo'sickle in a driving rain storm. That wasn't exactly pleasant, LOL! The coffee break in Trinidad was MOST welcome...

Raton has a great western-wear store called Solanos if you ever get to stop in town. It is an amazing old mining town.

I love Raton Pass too. It always feels like something should be happening there - and yet it is never really disappointing to find out that nothing is happening in Raton!

Hey, Tim. I was surprised to see you here, and when I click on your name, I see that you are starting your own blog site. BRAVO!!

Ive been messing around for a while making beer and wine and I figured I would post all of my notes that Ive taken and other things in regards to it for others like me that spend time searching the web looking for what others have tried.

My time on the computer is very limited lately, but whenever I get the chance I figured I'd try to put something up.

Good luck! A blog site is fun because you can make it completely personal and do whatever you want with it.

(Hey! Throw in a couple of pictures of Mary every now and then, okay?)
